A 2008 Hyundai Elantra in Canada is about to hit 1 million kilometres on its odometer. Quebec resident Jocelyn purchased the used vehicle from Hyundai Granby in 2011 with 30,000 km on the odometer. A delivery driver living in Saint-Hyacinthe, Jocelyn’s daily average was far above the national average, reaching about 107,000 km per year. The owner attributes the vehicle’s longevity to diligent maintenance, careful driving and a quality product.
“I have always taken great care of my vehicles. When you drive as much as I do, you don’t really have a choice. You want to protect your investment,” says Jocelyn. “Even with proper maintenance, I expected the vehicle to need some major work or rebuild at some point – but it’s never needed it.”
Jocelyn’s million kilometre Elantra is a testament to proper vehicle ownership practices and maintenance. While still pleased with his Elantra that remained in good condition, Jocelyn was looking for an automatic transmission, as well as an upgrade in his vehicle’s features and content. Jocelyn recently traded the Elantra in for a 2020 Kona at Hyundai Granby.
“When Jocelyn came in looking for a new Kona, he mentioned that he wanted to trade in his Elantra. We knew that it had high mileage and was exceptionally clean for the distance it had driven. Once I learned that it had nearly a million kilometres on it, I was amazed!” said Olivier Fournier, Sales Manager at Hyundai Granby.
Since buying it back from the customer, the staff from Hyundai Granby have brought the vehicle as close as possible to the million kilometre mark – currently standing at 999,311 km.
